Dhawdi Kund ... a treasure lost forever

Thanks to so-called developmental project - a Hydel project on Narmada river - Dhawdi Kund, also known as Dharaji, is now gone under water permanently.

This is one of the most beautiful places ... rather, this WAS one of the most beautiful places on the earth. It was in 2007 that the place went under water permanently. This is Dhawdi Kund, also known as Dharaji on the banks of Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh. Dharaji has gone down under the submergence of the waters impounded by the Narmada Hydroelectric Development Corporation Ltd for its Omkareshwar Hydel Project. This place is some 30-odd kilometres up stream of the pilgrim place of Omkareshwar. (Please also see a related post, wherein I reproduce a story I had written in March 2007 when the place was set to be lost forever. It was published in Hindustan Times Indore then.)

This is a blog about photos ... from my view point ...

Hence the name ... Dil Ki Nazar Se ... that is mere dil ki nazar se ...
I am a complete freak when it comes to travel. At the slightest occasion, I am out for yet another trip, yet another adventure. I can surely brag about the fact that I have been to places from as far as Arunachal Pradesh to as varied as Mansarovar. And at most of the times, the one and only faithful friend I have is my camera. A picture can tell what a thousand words story cannot they say. Yes, it is true. But at times, there are places, persons and events that need to be told to as to why and how to "look" at. This blog aims at doing exactly this.
